The most common types of charts are bar and line charts to display data over some time or across categories.
They are simple to create inside Ideagen Healthcare Guardian.
When you have chosen a data source you will need to decide on your Axis. Generally, if using data that includes a date, it's best to use the date as your X-Axis.
When setting up your trends table make sure your date is across the top, and your count is a dimension/header column on the left.
This will produce a bar chart with time across the bottom and bars to indicate the amount in each period.
Example:
You will need to tell Ideagen Healthcare Guardian what data you’d like to use from the table to make the chart, please see Selecting Table Data to Use in a Chart to learn how to do this.
When you have built your table and told Ideagen Healthcare Guardian what data you want to use, save your widget to lock in your work. Also, save your page as good practice.
Then refresh the page and your widget will now have the chart designer icon available to start designing your chart.
When you click on your chosen chart, your widget will change to your new chart selection live in real-time.
Then you need to select which variation of that chart type you wish to use in the “Options” tab.
Then you can use the properties tab to make further refinements on how you would like to display things like:
- Theme colours
- Legends
- Axis display formats and labels
- How you’d like to display the data series
- Bar Chart – Individual series colour
- Line Chart – Markers, line thickness, solid or dotted lines etc.
- Tool tips
- Labels titles and backgrounds
- And any other specific things related to that chart type.
What each of these sections does are available as articles on the help centre.
When you have your chart the way you want it, save your widget and also save the page.
