Selecting Table Data to Use in a Chart
Enterprise Users will be able to view and interact with pages. Performance Managers/Modellers can edit pages and objects, and Model Administrators have full permissions.
You will still need to check your personal permissions to access this area with your site Administrator.
The Ideagen Healthcare Guardian system needs you to choose the data you wish to display on a table. There are two ways to select the data you want to use from a table to be driven into a chart visualisation:
- All Cells Auto Selected
- Manual Selection
Auto Selection
Each option has its benefits but generally, if you are specifically building charts you will want to use auto-select all cells.
This, as the name suggests, will select all the columns and rows in the table and push them all into the chart to feed the X/Y Axis.
When building your table, use the minimum required Columns to produce the data you need.
Using “All Cells Auto Selected” is helpful when using a dataset that needs to look at current dates.
As new dates are added to the table from within the system, as the table is set to auto-select all, the new dates will always be included.
Otherwise, you would need to re-edit the table and re-select the new date columns after each period.
Manual Selection
Sometimes you may have a large table of data that you need visible, but you only need to display a chart visualisation based on one column.
Using manual selection allows you to pick the single column needed to drive the visualisation.
When new data is added to the table it will not be added to the chart. Do not use this for a table that has a header column of data that will grow dynamically.
Configuring Which Type to Use.
You will need to open the cell/widget formatting options and go to “Advanced Settings”.
From there you can choose either “All Cells Auto Selected” or “Selection” for manual selection.
