Using Mandatory Questions in Question Manager

A Mandatory question is only considered mandatory when it is visible within a questionnaire form. Therefore, a mandatory question is not mandatory if it does not get displayed (i.e. as a result of a when to show condition not being met)
Basic Mandatory Question Functionality
- Click required setting on a question to mark the questions as being mandatory,
- In the questionnaires workflow, set the flag to restrict movement of the record instance into another workflow stage until the required question(s) are completed.
Using the image above as an example, this will no longer allow the record instance to be moved into the completed workflow stage until all available mandatory questions have been answered.
Advanced Mandatory Question Functionality
Mandatory question in a specific workflow stage only
Once you have made the question mandatory by clicking required, a further option is added to question settings menu Required When
Select a question to be mandatory in certain workflow stages, by click Select Stages and choosing the workflow stage(s) the question to be mandatory ONLY when the record instance is in that workflow stage
Mandatory question when an answer rule condition is met.
Once you have made the question mandatory by clicking required, a further option is added to question settings menu Required When
Select a question to be mandatory when an answer rule condition is met.
- Click Answer Rule
- Choose the question to set as the conditional question and choose whether that condition should:
equals [select value] or does not equal [select option]; or
is blank or is not blank.
if the conditional question is a list-based question, options to choose whether the condition is any of [selected options] or is none of [selected options] are also made available.
- You can add multiple rules by clicking answer rule and adding another conditional question and set to conditional rules for the new question as described above
- Select And match to determine whether Any rule should be met or All rules should be met
- Click Save & Overwrite
