Scheduled Import vs Live Connect
Enterprise Users will be able to view and interact with pages. Performance Managers/Modellers can edit pages and objects, and Model Administrators have full permissions.
You will still need to check your personal permissions to access this area with your site Administrator.
Scheduled Import:
- Used to import information into Ideagen Healthcare Guardian Objects and Measures.
- These can be one-time imports, or have a ‘Scheduled’ element to them, where they can run each night or particular days/dates of the week/month.
- Once imported, the data remains stored in the Ideagen Healthcare Guardian Object: Measure structure.
Pros of Scheduled Import
- Can assign Target values for each ‘period’ (day/week/month etc)
- Ideagen Healthcare Guardian can then automatically generate a ‘performance rating’ for that Object: Measure based on the ‘Actual’ vs the ‘Target’ value.
- Comments can be made by users and are assigned to the specific ‘period’ for that Object: Measure
- Actions/Tasks can be created for the specific Object: Measure
- Performance for a particular ‘period’ can be discussed/reviewed, and then actions created to improve poor performance/maintain good performance. With all those elements entered/stored in Ideagen Healthcare Guardian so there is a clear audit trail.
Cons of Scheduled Import
- More complicated and time-consuming to configure and manage.
- This is mainly because items in the dataset need a corresponding ‘Object’ to be imported against.
- Building ‘Queries’ to display the information is more complicated than with a Live Connection.
- Object: Measure queries are more demanding on the Ideagen Healthcare Guardian system, so there are limits to how many results are returned as a result of an Object: Measure query.
- This limit can be increased but not comparable to the volume of results in a Live Connection.
Live Connect:
- Used to visualise information in Ideagen Healthcare Guardian.
- Data is not stored in Ideagen Healthcare Guardian Object: Measure structure, so if the dataset you’re connecting to used to show 12 months of data, and then was amended to only contain 1 month of data, only 1 month of data can be shown in Ideagen Healthcare Guardian.
Pros of Live Connection
- Can visualise extremely large datasets quickly.
- Eg: Legacy Incident datasets with over 200k records.
- Building ‘Queries’ are straightforward.
- Choose your connection.
- Apply your slicers.
- Add your columns.
- Convert to a chart (optional)
- Connections are ‘Live.’
- A refresh of the browser is all that is needed to display the most up-to-date information.
Cons of Live Connect
- Cannot enter a ‘target’ value for a period of data in a Live Connection.
- Eg: you can display the number of Incidents reported over the last month, but how do you know if that number is good/bad?
- Users cannot leave comments against a Live Connection.
- Cannot assign Actions/Tasks against a Live Connection.
- These items then limit how much Ideagen Healthcare Guardian can be used to analyse the data that has been captured and detail what needs to be done, who needs to do it, and when it needs to be done by.
