Adding Statistics to a Bar or Line Chart
Enterprise Users will be able to view and interact with pages. Performance Managers/Modellers can edit pages and objects, and Model Administrators have full permissions.
You will still need to check your personal permissions to access this area with your site Administrator.
Ideagen Healthcare Guardian has a built-in statistics feature on all charts which allows you to add various statistical functions on the fly, or to save onto your chart as a permanent display.
The statistics feature works best on bar and line charts with a single series of data. If you have multiple series of data, the statistical analysis and additional data points will be added to your chart for each series.
When the statistical series is added to your chart you can edit them using the chart editor.
You can use the chart editor to hide the additional series data points you do not wish to see.
Activating chart statistics
To open the Chart Statistics panel, right-click on your chart and click on the “Chart Statistics” option.
This will open the Chart Statistics panel for you to then select what kind of statistical function(s) you wish to use.
If you click on a function like “Average” then click ‘ok. It will add a series to the chart for the average of that dataset.
When you initially add the statistical function to the chart it will include it using the same chart type as your existing chart.
If you wish to change the new statistical series to a dotted line, you will need to change it to a combo chart.
Open the chart designer for your chart and select the Combo chart from the options.
On the options tab select the combo chart.
Then go to the properties tab and go to the “Data” Area.
Click on the dropdown to select a series and select your “…. Mean” series, which will be your new statistical series.
Then use the settings in the data area to adjust your new line chart to show the average. The settings to match that of the screenshot below are:
- Type – Line
- Line Style – Short Dash
- Cap – Square
- Markers – Off
This will give you a dashed line to show you the average.
Save your widget and page to lock in your changes.
